TORONTO — Just days after facing a massive online backlash for ejecting a sleeping fan from his concert, Burna Boy has fired back at his critics in the most Odogwu way possible.

The self-proclaimed African Giant turned his latest sold-out show at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto into a public address system, taking a moment between songs to mock the "Cancel Culture" mob that has been trending his name on X (formerly Twitter) for the last 72 hours.

The Rant In a video now circulating wildly on social media, Burna Boy paused his set to ask the crowd a rhetorical question that silenced the arena:

“This tour has been emotional… because tell me who else has done a tour while being cancelled?”.

He went on to praise his band, The Outsiders, before declaring that he would rather be "cancelled" than disrespected, doubling down on his stance that fans must bring energy to his shows or stay home.

The Backstory: Why the Internet is Angry The controversy started earlier this week during a stop on his 'No Sign of Weakness' tour in Colorado. Burna Boy spotted a woman in the front row who wasn't dancing and ordered security to escort her out, famously saying, "If you no like me, na God go punish you!".

It was later revealed that the fan may have been resting due to exhaustion, sparking a debate on fan entitlement vs. artist respect. Organizers have since cancelled his upcoming shows in Minneapolis and Chicago, allegedly due to low ticket sales following the incident, though Burna’s camp claims it is a scheduling conflict.

The Verdict While critics are calling for a boycott, Burna Boy’s Toronto show was packed to the rafters. Love him or hate him, the City Boys singer proves once again that bad publicity is just free marketing in 2025.
